Minor Degrees

Philosophy Minor (18 hours)

A minor in Philosophy consists of 18 semester hours.

Requirements

  • 1 introductory Philosophy course (either PHL 1000, 1501, 1502, or 1503)
  • Logic I  (PHL 1100)
  • 1 PHL course at the 2000 level
  • 1 PHL course at the 3000 level
  • 1 PHL course at the 4000 level
  • 1 PHL elective

A student minoring in the department must obtain credit for one course in literature outside the department. If a student has satisfied the core curriculum requirement of one course in literature by taking one or more courses in religion counting towards this requirement, she or he will be allowed to count them toward the major, but must obtain additional credit in literature equal to that counted toward the major.

Religious Studies Minor (18 hours)

A minor in Religion consists of 18 semester hours.

Requirements

  • REL 1010 (Introduction to Religious Literature) or REL 1110 (Religions of the World)
  • REL 4700 (Senior Seminar)
  • 1 REL course at or above the 3000 level
  • 3 REL electives above the 1000 level
